PENERAPAN STRATEGI PEMBELAJARAN SCAFFOLDING DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI SISWA KELAS V SD

Abstract

This study aims to examine how scaffolding strategies are applied by teachers in numeracy learning in grade V of Kampung Bulak 02 Public Elementary School, as well as its impact on students' understanding and learning motivation. The main issue studied is how scaffolding can overcome students' understanding gaps in mathematics, particularly in integer operations. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with teachers and eight students, as well as direct observation of learning activities in the classroom. Data analysis is carried out based on the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that teachers understood scaffolding as assistance provided gradually and flexibly according to student needs. This strategy was implemented through the use of simple teaching aids, repetition of explanations, and remedial assignments. Students showed positive responses in the form of increased understanding, confidence, and enthusiasm in learning. The challenges faced by teachers included limited tools and time, but these were overcome through creativity and personal commitment. In conclusion, the scaffolding strategy was effective in improving students' numeracy comprehension and encouraging an equitable learning process in the classroom.
