Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of telling time through the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model in third-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is the low level of students’ understanding and participation in mathematics learning due to the use of conventional teaching methods that are less engaging. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages.

The subjects of this study were third-grade students in an elementary school. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model significantly improved students’ learning outcomes and classroom participation. Students became more active, enthusiastic, and better able to understand mathematical concepts through visual media. The percentage of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria increased in each cycle, indicating the effectiveness of the model. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Picture and Picture learning model is effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes, especially in learning how to read time in elementary school.
