PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA KOTAK HURUF TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENGENAL HURUF ABJAD PADASISWA KELAS 1 SDN 31 JATI TANAH TINGGIKOTA PADANG

Abstract

This research is based on the low letter recognition skills of first-grade students at SDN 31 Jati Tanah Tinggi, Padang City. This study aims to investigate the effect of using letter box media on the letter recognition skills of first-grade students at SDN 31 Jati Tanah Tinggi, Padang City. The research method utilized is an experiment with a Quasi-Experimental Design. This study includes two learning groups; the first group is given treatment using the letter box media, referred to as the experimental class, while the second group is not given treatment, referred to as the control class. The population in this study consists of first-grade students at SDN 31 Jati Tanah Tinggi, Padang City, where class IC is the experimental class using letter box media, while class IB is the control class not using letter box media. Data collection in this study was conducted using a letter recognition skills test in the form of a scoring rubric with 10 items. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test. Based on the analysis using descriptive statistics, the average score of the experimental class was 85, which is higher compared to the average score of the control class, which was 80. Based on the statistical analysis, hypothesis testing using t-test yielded a result of t-count = 3.073 > t-table = 1.684, so the hypothesis H1 is accepted, concluding that there is an effect of using letter box media on letter recognition skills in first-grade students at SDN 31 Jati Tanah Tinggi, Padang City.
