REVITALISASI PERPUSTAKAAN DAN DESAIN POJOK BACA GUNA MENINGKATKAN LITERASI NUMERASI SISWA SDN 1 MONGGAS

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is a crucial competency for elementary school students, as it relates to the ability to comprehend information and solve problems in daily life. PISA 2022 results indicate that only 18% of Indonesian students reached Level 2 in mathematics, while 25% reached that level in reading. The OECD (2023) notes that these findings highlight the need to strengthen literacy through contextual learning environments. This study aims to describe the revitalization of the library and the design of reading corners to support the numeracy literacy of students at SDN 1 Monggas. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, encompassing stages of observation, needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The revitalization and creation of reading corners involved reorganizing the library space and collection, providing reading materials related to numeracy literacy, and conducting reading and problem-solving activities. The results show that the library revitalization and the creation of reading corners positively impacted student library usage. Following the revitalization, students demonstrated great enthusiasm for visiting and utilizing the library. This increase in visits was accompanied by a growing interest among students in reading, as well as in engaging in arithmetic and numeracy problem-solving activities. Thus, library revitalization and the creation of reading corners serve as effective strategies for fostering an engaging, contextual learning environment that supports increased reading interest and numeracy literacy among elementary school students.
