Abstract

This study examines the role of digital television as a medium for cultural literacy and character education among Indonesian students in the post-Analog Switch-Off broadcasting era. It addresses challenges in optimizing television content for educational purposes, including the dominance of commercial entertainment, limited educational programming, access disparities, and insufficient integration into school curricula. Employing a qualitative systematic literature review of selected sources from 2021-2024, the findings indicate that digital television holds significant potential to enhance students' cultural understanding and social empathy. However, this potential is constrained by several critical barriers. The study concludes that harnessing digital television as a transformative educational ecosystem requires policy synergy, human resource capacity building, and a collective commitment from multiple stakeholders.
