Abstract

This study aims to examine how the implementation of School Literacy Movement in grade V of SDN 51 Sungai Raya. The School Literacy Movement (GLS) is a comperehensive effort implemented in the school environment to develop and improve reading, writing, understanding, and speaking skills. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative research type. Data collection techniques in this study use interview, observation, and documentation tecniques. The data used in this study are the result of interviews with informant regarding GLS activities at the habituation stage and observation sheets of GLS activities at the habituation stage in grade V. The result of study indicate that the implementation of the School Literacy Movement at SDN 51 Sungai Raya has been running quite well by involving teachers and students, but is still conditional and has not been consistently scheduled. The implementation of the literacy movement at the school has only beeb running at the habituation stage, one of which is reading 15 minutes before lesson begin.
