PERAN PENDIDIKAN IPS DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER PESERTA DIDIK BERBASIS NILAI-NILAI MULTIKULTURAL TERHADAP SIKAP BHINEKA TUNGGAL IKA

Abstract

High mobility influences the movement of someone from their home area to a new area as a newcomer, there are many cultural differences and customs in the new place. These differences are often made a problem between immigrant tribes and local tribes or between immigrant tribes and other immigrant tribes. Social studies learning that includes multicultural values in the formation of students' characters within the unity of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is expected to make students understand in appreciating and tolerating positive differences towards ethnic differences that occur near them. This study aims to analyze the role of social studies education in the formation of multicultural students' characters within Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. The research method used is a literature search published in 2018-2025. The results of the literature search indicate that incorporating multicultural values can mutually appreciate and respect existing differences, the integration of multicultural values in social studies learning significantly influences the improvement of diversity attitudes. Thus, this study concludes that multicultural values and Bhineka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) in social studies learning can foster an attitude of tolerance, mutual respect, and acceptance of differences in ethnicity, customs, and religion.
