ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI RENDAHNYA MINAT SISWA KELAS VI SDN 1 CIMANGGU MELANJUTKAN KE SMP

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the low interest of students at SD Negeri 1 Cimanggu in continuing their education to junior high school level. This research employed a qualitative approach with an interpretative descriptive method. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The informants consisted of 10 sixth-grade students, 5 parents, and 2 classroom teachers selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking.

The results showed that the low interest of students in continuing their education was influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors included low learning motivation, lack of understanding regarding the importance of education, and unclear future aspirations. Meanwhile, external factors included family economic conditions, parental support, social environment, and access to education. The most dominant factor was the family’s economic condition, which limited the fulfillment of students’ educational needs. In addition, the lack of parental support and an unsupportive social environment also contributed to students’ low interest in continuing their education. Therefore, collaboration among schools, families, communities, and the government is needed to improve students’ motivation and awareness of the importance of education in order to increase their interest in pursuing higher levels of education.
