The low academic achievement of fourth-grade students at SDN 33 Kalumbuk, Padang City, serves as the background of this study, with only 32% of students scoring above the Criteria for Achieving Learning Objectives (KKTP). This research aims to examine the relationship between reading interest and students’ academic achievement. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The population consisted of all 28 fourth-grade students in the 2024/2025 academic year, who were also taken as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. The research instrument was a reading interest questionnaire, while academic achievement data were obtained from Midterm Examination (PTS) scores. Data analysis included normality tests, linearity tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests. The findings indicate a correlation coefficient of 0.551, with t count (0.551) > t table (0.374), showing a positive relationship of moderate strength. The coefficient of determination of 30.4% suggests that reading interest contributes to academic achievement, while the remaining 69.6% is influenced by other factors. It is concluded that fostering reading interest has the potential to enhance students’ academic performance.
