PENGARUH MEDIA KARTU TRUTH OR DARE TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPAS MATERI NORMA KELAS IV SD NEGERI 3 NAMANG

Abstract

This study was done in response to the finding that fourth-grade students experienced difficulties in understanding the topic of local norms and customs, particularly in achieving the learning indicator of providing relevant examples. In addition, innovative instructional media had not been incorporated into the learning process. These issues were identified through interviews with the Grade IV homeroom teacher. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of the Truth or Dare card game on students’ understanding of norms in local customs as part of the Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) curriculum at SD Negeri 3 Namang. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The participants were 43 fourth-grade students, consisting of 21 students in the experimental class and 22 students in the control class. Data were obtained through a written test consisting of 10 essay questions. The data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality, Levene’s test for homogeneity, and the independent samples t-test for hypothesis testing.The findings indicated that the experimental class achieved an average posttest score of 80.35, whereas the control class obtained an average score of 68.63. The hypothesis test resulted in a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05. Thus, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. These findings indicate that the use of the Truth or Dare card activity had an effect on students’ understanding of local customs and traditions among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Namang.
