This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Game-Based Learning model in reducing mathematics learning difficulties among first-grade elementary school students. Learning difficulties are reflected in low understanding of addition and subtraction concepts which remain abstract. The condition is influenced by students’ cognitive development stages and limited use of engaging learning media. The study applies a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest design. Research subjects consist of first-grade students experiencing difficulties in basic arithmetic operations. Data collection uses learning outcome tests and observations. Results indicate an improvement in conceptual understanding and a decrease in learning difficulties after implementation. Game-based activities encourage active participation, increase motivation, and support concrete understanding. The Game- Based Learning model is considered effective for mathematics learning in lower elementary grades.
