PENGARUH MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN WORDWALL TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA MATERI KERAJAAN-KERAJAAN DI NUSANTARA IPAS KELAS IV SD NEGERI 38 PANGKAPINANG

ABSTRACT

This research was conducted due to the low academic performance of fourth-grade students in learning the topic of kingdoms in the Indonesian archipelago within the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject. Among the 35 students involved, only 9 students (25.71%) reached the expected level of learning mastery, whereas 26 students (74.29%) had not achieved the predetermined mastery criteria. This condition was influenced by students’ challenges in comprehending the learning materials and the lack of diverse and innovative learning media implemented during the teaching and learning process. The instructional activities were predominantly carried out through the use of printed textbooks and conventional teacher-centered explanations, while interactive technology-based learning resources were rarely utilized. This study aimed to determine the effect of Wordwall as an instructional medium on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students regarding the topic of kingdoms in the Indonesian archipelago at SD Negeri 38 Pangkalpinang. A quantitative research approach was applied using a pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research participants included all 35 fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 38 Pangkalpinang. Data were obtained through learning achievement assessments conducted before and after the implementation of Wordwall as a learning medium. The collected data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk test to examine data normality and a paired-samples t-test to evaluate the research hypothesis. The normality analysis indicated significance values of 0.091 for the pretest data and 0.065 for the posttest data. Since both significance values exceeded the 0.05 threshold, the data distribution was considered normal. Furthermore, the paired-samples t-test produced a significance value of p < 0.001, demonstrating a statistically significant difference between students’ pretest and posttest scores. Therefore, the findings indicate that the implementation of Wordwall as a learning medium significantly improves the learning achievement of fourth-grade students in understanding the topic of kingdoms in the Indonesian archipelago at SD Negeri 38 Pangkalpinang.
