Abstract

This study aimed to determine the difference in early mathematics skills of children aged 5–6 years through the Smart Balance Game at TK Negeri Pembina Sunggal. The early mathematics skills examined included seriation, classification, decentering, and reversibility. This study employed a quantitative approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population consisted of all Group Bchildren at TK Negeri Pembina Sunggal, with a sample of 11 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation using an observation sheet designed to assess children’s early mathematics skills. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test as a non-parametric statistical technique. The results showed a significant difference between children’s early mathematics skills before and after participating in learning activities using the Smart Balance Game.

Improvements were observed in children’s ability to arrange objects according to weight (seriation), classify objects into heavy and light categories (classification), understand that size does not always determine weight (decentering), and

recognize that an object’s weight remains unchanged even when its position is moved (reversibility). Therefore, the Smart Balance Game is an effective learning medium for developing early mathematics skills among children aged 5–6 years at TK Negeri Pembina Sunggal.
