MENINGKATKAN PROSES DAN HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA KELAS III MENGGUNAKAN MODEL DIRECT INSTRUCTION BERBANTU MEDIA GAMBAR DI SDN 178/II PURWASARI

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low engagement and mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 178/II Purwasari. The teacher-centered learning process and minimal use of instructional media make students less active and have difficulty understanding abstract concepts. Therefore, innovation is needed through the implementation of the Direct Instruction learning model with the aid of visual media. The purpose of this research is to improve students' mathematics learning processes and outcomes through this model.This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The subjects were 29 third-grade students. The research instruments were teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed descriptively by comparing results between cycles. The implementation of the actions was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results showed an improvement in both the learning process and outcomes. In the first cycle, the learning process achieved a percentage of 34.48% in the first meeting, while in the second meeting it was 62.06%. Then, in the second cycle, the student learning process increased from 72.41% in the first meeting to 86.21% in the second meeting. In terms of learning outcomes, the percentage of completion in the first cycle reached 41.38% in the first meeting and 48.28% in the second meeting, then increased in the second cycle to 72.41% in the first meeting and 82.76% in the second meeting. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Direct Instruction learning model assisted by image media can improve the mathematics learning process and outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 178/II Purwasari. Therefore, this model can be used as an alternative effective learning strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools.
