This study aimed to determine the effect of the Role Playing learning model on the speaking skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Indarung Padang. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of 57 students, all of whom were included as the sample through total sampling, comprising 29 students in the experimental class and 28 students in the control class. Data were collected through an oral speaking skills test administered as a pretest and posttest, assessing fluency, confidence, vocabulary, intonation, and expression. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, the Independent Samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The mean score of the experimental class increased from 60.59 to 80.31, while the control class increased from 67.50 to 73.04. The mean N-Gain was 46.30% for the experimental class and 14.44% for the control class. Hypothesis testing produced a significance value of 0.001, with a calculated t value of 3.482 and 55 degrees of freedom. Since the significance value was below 0.05, the null hypothesis was rejected. Therefore, the Role Playing learning model had a significant effect on the speaking skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Indarung Padang.
