REDUKSI MISKONSEPSI 'RUANG KOSONG' BENDA GAS MELALUI REKONSTRUKSI PEMAHAMAN MENGGUNAKAN SINTAKS DUO CCM DI KELAS III SD

Abstract

Misconceptions regarding the existence of gas as “empty space” remain a significant pedagogical challenge in elementary science education. This research aims to analyze the reduction of students' misconceptions on the topic of “The Three States of Matter” using the Model Pembelajaran Sains Berbasis (MPSB) DUO CCM. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design involving 26 third-grade students at SD Negeri Malangan. Data collection involved diagnostic probing through questioning, structured experimental activities, and classroom observations., structured experimental activities, and classroom observations. The results reveal that prior to the intervention, all students mistakenly perceived the air inside a glass as “empty space.” Through the implementation of the DUO CCM model—which integrates conceptual change and cognitive conflict strategies—students were engaged in empirical experiments that directly challenged their erroneous prior knowledge. The findings indicate that the experimental evidence successfully triggered cognitive disequilibrium, compelling students to reconstruct their understanding through active discussion. Post-intervention evaluations demonstrated that all students successfully achieved conceptual mastery, transitioning from intuitive misconceptions to accurate scientific understanding. This study concludes that the DUO CCM model is a effective pedagogical tool for remediating persistent misconceptions and fostering stable, scientifically accurate concepts in elementary school science learning.
