TEORI KEPEMIMPINAN: TEORI SIFAT, TEORI PERILAKU. PENDEKATAN KEKUASAAN, DAN TEORI SITUASIONAL ATAU KONTINJENSI

Abstract

Leadership is one of the key factors in determining the success of an organization in achieving its established goals. Various leadership theories have emerged to explain how a leader is able to influence, guide, and motivate members of an organization. This paper aims to examine several major theories in leadership, namely trait theory, behavioral theory, the power approach, and situational or contingency theory. Trait theory explains that leadership is influenced by the personal characteristics possessed by a leader, such as self-confidence, intelligence, and integrity. Meanwhile, behavioral theory emphasizes that leadership can be learned through the leader’s behavioral patterns in leading and interacting with organizational members. The power approach views leadership through a leader’s ability to use sources of power to influence others to achieve organizational goals. The situational or contingency theory states that leadership effectiveness is highly dependent on the situations and conditions faced, meaning there is no single leadership style that is most appropriate for all circumstances. By understanding these various theories, it is hoped that a more comprehensive understanding of the concept of leadership and its application in various organizational contexts can be achieved.
