Abstract

Pure economic education plays a crucial role in forming a solid knowledge foundation for professionals in the field of economics. This study aims to explore the role of pure economic education as a basis for professional skill development, focusing on economics programs at the university level. A qualitative approach was employed to gain in-depth insights through case studies. Data were collected through interviews with faculty members and students of economics programs, as well as analysis of the offered curriculum. The results of the research indicate that pure economic education provides a strong foundation for professional skill development in the field of economics. Through a deep understanding of economic theories and concepts, students can develop essential skills in analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking in professional environments. However, challenges such as the development of curriculum relevant to the latest developments in the global economy, integration of technology in learning, and industry involvement in curriculum development were also identified. This article concludes by emphasizing the importance of pure economic education as a basis for developing competent and responsive professional skills to meet the demands of the global job market.
