ANALISIS PERAN GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM PEMBENTUKAN AKHLAK SISWA KELAS IV SD MUHAMMADIYAH 5 SAMARINDA

Abstract

This research is motivated by the presence of good student morals at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Samarinda. The problem formulation in this study is: How is the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the morals of fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Samarinda? The aim of this study is to describe in detail the role and contribution of PAI teachers in the moral formation of students. The research used a qualitative approach with the setting at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Samarinda. The subjects were all PAI teachers and fourth-grade students, while the respondents consisted of five PAI teachers and students from five classes. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with analysis carried out using Miles & Huberman’s interactive model which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and the validity of the data was tested using technique triangulation.The findings of the study indicate that PAI teachers play multiple roles, namely as educators, mentors, role models, motivators, and evaluators in students’ moral development. Several strategies were implemented, including habituation of Islamic practices, the cultivation of the 5S culture (smile, greet, salute, polite, courteous), the implementation of the “Star Morals System,” and regular evaluations of students’ moral progress. Supporting factors in the process include a conducive school environment, exemplary attitudes of teachers, and various religious activities organized by the school. On the other hand, inhibiting factors are mainly influenced by external environments such as family and community conditions that are less supportive. The study concludes that effective moral formation in schools requires continuous habituation, consistent role modeling, motivation, regular evaluation, and strong collaboration between schools and parents.
