This study aims to describe the characteristics of the Pekalongan Javanese dialect used in interactions between traders and buyers in traditional markets. The focus of the study includes speech forms, distinctive vocabulary, pronunciation characteristics, and the use of dialect in the bargaining process. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a sociolinguistic approach. Data were obtained through direct observation of conversations between traders and buyers in traditional markets in Pekalongan Regency using listening, recording, and note-taking techniques. The collected data were then transcribed, classified, and analyzed descriptively to identify linguistic characteristics that emerge in buying and selling interactions. The results show that the Pekalongan Javanese dialect is still actively used in daily communication in traditional markets. The speech forms found reflect both communicative functions and social relationships between speakers. Distinctive vocabulary such as kiye, kepriye, bae, and nyong serve as markers of the linguistic identity of the Pekalongan people, distinguishing them from other Javanese dialects. From a phonological aspect, changes in vowel and consonant sounds were found, such as the change from iki to kiye and wae to bae. Furthermore, the use of dialect in bargaining processes contributes to a more intimate atmosphere, strengthens social solidarity, and facilitates transaction agreements. These findings indicate that the Pekalongan Javanese dialect serves not only as a means of communication but also as a means of preserving the cultural identity and social values of the community. Therefore, the Pekalongan Javanese dialect must be continuously preserved as part of Indonesia's rich regional linguistic heritage.
