Abstract

Historical literacy skills are an important aspect of education that is often overlooked but has a significant impact in developing students' conceptual and critical understanding. This article discusses why historical literacy skills have a crucial role in history learning and how developing them can enrich students' understanding of the past and improve their ability to think critically. Current research shows that historical literacy skills help students develop analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and reflection skills that are important in understanding historical context and analyzing various historical sources. In addition, this article also reviews effective strategies for integrating historical literacy skills in history learning to improve students' conceptual and critical understanding abilities.
