PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS ANEKDOT MELALUI PROBLEM BASED LEARNING BERBANTUAN MEDIA CANVA PADA SISWA KELAS X SMK

Abstract

Anecdotal texts require students to understand five key components abstraction, orientation, crisis, reaction, and coda and to employ language that conveys social criticism humorously. Initial assessments conducted during Cycle I revealed that the class had not yet achieved the desired outcomes, particularly regarding the application of the structural framework to actual text excerpts. This study aimed to outline students’ baseline proficiency in understanding anecdotal texts and to present the results of Cycle II, which emphasized text structure and the use of leaflets or comics as writing aids. The study subjects were students from class X KA-1 at SMK Negeri 5 Surabaya during the 2026/2027 academic year. Pre-test data were derived from a seven-question assessment taken by 34 students, while Cycle II data were obtained by evaluating 36 student-produced works using a five-aspect rubric and a Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of 75. The data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores, standard deviation, and the percentage of class mastery. Pre-test results showed a mean score of 79.12 with a class mastery rate of 73.5%, whereas the works produced in Cycle II yielded a mean score of 80.15 with class mastery reaching 80%. Approximately 85% of the sampled works incorporated all five structural elements in the correct sequence, and the themes spanned six categories of social issues. These results indicate progress and meet the established class mastery benchmark of 75%; however, the findings remain indicative in nature due to differences in the assessment instruments and the number of subjects between the two stages.
