EFEKTIVITAS PENGGUNAAN GOOGLE SITES PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPS TERHADAP ASPEK KOGNITIF PESERTA DIDIK SMPN 1 GEDANGAN

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in the cognitive aspects of students before and after the use of Google Sites as a learning media and to analyze its effectiveness on the cognitive aspects of students in social studies learning at SMP Negeri 1 Gedangan. This research is motivated by the low utilization of digital learning media in social studies education, which results in students being less active and their cognitive learning outcomes not being optimal. The research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consists of class VIII D as the experimental class that receives instruction using Google Sites based on problem-based learning and class VIII C as the control class that receives conventional instruction. Data collection techniques were carried out through pretest-posttest, observation of student activities, and documentation. Data analysis includes validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity tests, the N-Gain test, the paired samples t-test, and Independent Samples t-test. The research results show that the use of Google Sites media effectively improves the cognitive aspects of students. The N-Gain value of the experimental class, which is 58.70%, falls into the moderate category and is higher than the control class at 46.70%. The Paired Samples t-test results indicate a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental class (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), while the Independent Samples t-test results show a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). In addition, the observation results show that students' activities during learning using Google Sites are categorized as very good.
