School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS) is a program aimed at fostering a reading culture and improving students’ literacy skills in the school environment. This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement in improving elementary school students’ reading interest. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the School Literacy Movement had a positive effect on increasing students’ reading interest. The implementation of GLS was carried out through reading habituation activities, the provision of literacy facilities such as reading corners and libraries, and the support of a literacy-rich school environment. In addition, the role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and mentors also supported the success of literacy programs in schools. Physical, social, and academic environments that support literacy also play an important role in shaping students’ reading habits. Therefore, the School Literacy Movement can be an effective effort in increasing reading interest, building a literacy culture, and supporting the improvement of elementary school students’ learning abilities.
