Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes on plane geometry material through the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model of the Numbered Heads Together type. Background of the study indicates that learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Labasari were relatively low and student participation in the learning process was still limited. Method used in this research is Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Research subjects were third-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Labasari. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests and student activity observation sheets. Results of the study show an improvement in students’ learning outcomes in each cycle. Average scores increased from the first cycle to the second cycle. Student learning activities also improved, indicated by increased participation in discussions and responses to questions. Implementation of the Numbered Heads Together model created a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Model provided opportunities for all students to actively participate in group learning. Conclusion of this study indicates that the Cooperative Learning model of Numbered Heads Together type is effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes on plane geometry material.
