Abstract

Anemia is a global health problem often experienced by adolescent girls, which can lead to decreased concentration in school, stunted growth, and future pregnancy risks. According to data from the Batang Hari Regency Health Office in 2024, the. prevalence of anemia in junior high school adolescents reached 55.43%. Low levels of knowledge about anemia prevention are one of the main causes of this high number of cases. Therefore, health education is needed as an effective health promotion tool to increase adolescents' understanding of the importance of anemia prevention. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using poster media on improving adolescent girls' knowledge about anemia prevention at SMPN 21 Batang Hari. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design with a sample size of 30 students selected through random sampling. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire administered before and after the educational intervention with poster media. Data analysis was performed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that health education with poster medihad a significant effect on adolescent girls' knowledge about anemia prevention, with the knowledge level after the intervention (p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05)). It can be concluded that poster media is effective in improving adolescent girls' knowledge about anemia prevention and can be used as a health promotion strategy in schools. It is recommended that poster media be used more widely in health education programs
