This article examines Ruling Number 539/Pdt/2026/PT DKI concerning a tort (unlawful act) lawsuit between Nikita Mirzani and Ismail Marzuki against dr. Reza Gladis Prettyanisari and dr. Attaubah Mufid, which originated from a commercial agreement made via WhatsApp and escalated into mutual police reports and countersuits. The method used is case tabulation, systematically arranging the chronology of events, the identities of the parties, and the verdicts, followed by a critical analysis of the legal reasoning at the first-instance and appellate levels. The findings show that the Jakarta High Court overturned the first-instance ruling on two main grounds: first, the WhatsApp conversation evidence underlying the principal claim was deemed weak because it could not be verified against its original source; second, the defendants' counterclaim was declared inadmissible (niet ontvankelijke verklaard) for improperly combining two distinct legal issues in a single claim, violating the requirement of objective joinder. This study affirms that in civil disputes involving digital evidence, both the technical validity of electronic evidence and compliance with the formal requirements of a lawsuit equally determine the outcome of a case, regardless of the substantive merits of either party's claims.
