Abstract

This study is motivated by the low interest in learning history among students, who tend to perceive it as monotonous and memorization-based. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of digital media on the learning interest in history among Generation Z students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The sample consists of high school students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive analysis and simple linear regression. The results show that digital media has a positive and significant effect on students’ interest in learning history. Students demonstrate higher attention, participation, and motivation when digital media is used compared to conventional methods. Digital media presents materials in a visual, interactive, and flexible manner, aligning with the characteristics of Generation Z. However, challenges such as limited technological facilities and teachers’ digital literacy remain. Therefore, proper utilization of digital media and institutional support are necessary to optimize history learning.
