Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to empirically compare the performance of the full-wave and half-wave charging systems on a Suzuki RC 100 motorcycle. This study aimed to determine the modification process of the electrical system from half-wave to full-wave and to analyze which charging system produces the highest and most stable current (Amperes) and voltage (Voltage). The research method used was an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The experimental design used was a pre-experimental design in the form of a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design on one Suzuki RC 100 motorcycle. Data were collected through direct measurements of current and voltage at varying engine speeds (RPM) using a voltmeter and ammeter. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA.The test results showed that the full-wave charging system produced higher current and voltage than the half-wave system at all engine speed variations. In the Half-Wave system, the charging current increases from 1.8 A at 1000 RPM to 3.3 A at 5000 RPM, while the voltage increases from 12.00 V to 13.87 V. After being modified to Full-Wave, the charging current increases from 2.2 A at 1000 RPM to 5.3 A at 5000 RPM, while the voltage increases from 12.03 V to 14.63 V. The fullwave system is proven to be more efficient and stable because it is able to utilize both sides of the alternating current wave.
