Abstract

Educational leadership and management play a crucial role in improving the quality of education in schools. Principals, as educational leaders, are required to effectively manage school resources and create a supportive work environment for improving teacher performance. However, in practice, educational leadership in Indonesia still faces various challenges, both internal and external. Therefore, a study of the application of educational leadership and management is crucial for understanding how principal leadership can impact teacher performance and the quality of learning. This paper aims to analyze the application of educational leadership and management, identify challenges to educational leadership in Indonesia, and examine principal strategies for improving teacher performance. The method used in this paper is a literature review, reviewing various sources of literature and case studies on leadership practices in educational institutions. The results of the discussion indicate that effective principal leadership, supported by sound educational management, can enhance teacher professionalism and encourage the creation of a higher- quality learning process. Thus, principal leadership plays a strategic role in addressing various educational challenges and improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
