ANALISIS GAYA BAHASA DALAM PUISI SAJAK PUTIH KARYA CHAIRIL ANWAR

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the figurative language used in the poem Sajak Putih by Chairil Anwar and to explain how such language constructs poetic meaning. The background of the research is based on the view that poetry does not merely function as a medium of aesthetic expression, but also as a complex linguistic structure with layers of symbolic, emotional, and stylistic meaning. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, utilizing intensive reading, note-taking, and data classification techniques based on theories of figurative language. The data source consists of lines in Sajak Putih that contain elements of metaphor, personification, color symbolism, simile, imagery, lyrical diction, as well as tonal and atmospheric formation. The findings indicate that Chairil Anwar predominantly employs metaphor and personification to articulate the inner emotional state of the lyrical persona. Moreover, color symbolism and visual imagery reinforce themes of love and inner serenity, while lyrical diction and melancholic tone produce a profound emotional effect on readers.
