Abstract

This study aims to: 1) determine the level of exposure to K-Pop culture among teenagers at SMA Negeri 1 Cangkringan, 2) determine the level of consumptive behavior among teenagers at SMA Negeri 1 Cangkringan, 3) analyze and determine whether there is a relationship between exposure to K-Pop culture and consumptive behavior among teenagers.

This study is a quantitative study with a correlational design. The subjects of this study were 48 students in grade XI at SMA Negeri 1 Cangkringan. Data collection used a K-Pop culture exposure scale questionnaire with 34 valid items that had a Cronbach's alpha reliability index of 0.980 and a consumptive behavior scale with 27 valid items that had a Cronbach's alpha reliability index of 0.962.

The results of the study show that: 1) Most adolescents have a very low level of exposure to K-Pop culture, with 13 students (27.08%), 15 students (31.25%) in the low category, 15 students (31.25%) in the moderate category, 3 students (6.25%) in the high category, and 2 students (4.17%) in the very high category. 2) Most teenagers have a very low level of consumptive behavior, with 17 students (35.42%), 16 students (33.33%) in the low category, 8 students (16.67%) in the moderate category, 5 students (10.42%) in the high category, and 2 students (4.17%) in the very high category. Analysis of item score achievement shows that for the K-Pop cultural exposure variable, the majority of items (91.18%) were in the low achievement category. Meanwhile, in the variable of consumptive behavior, the majority of items (55.56%) were in the low achievement category. 3) This study proves that there is a positive and significant relationship between exposure to K-Pop culture and consumptive behavior with a correlation coefficient of 0.375. The higher the exposure to K-Pop culture, the higher the consumptive behavior, and vice versa.
