IMPLEMENTASI MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA KELAS VIII UPT SMP NEGERI 4 TAKALAR

This research was motivated by the low vocabulary mastery and activity of grade VIII A students at UPT SMP Negeri 4 Takalar in English learning, especially in Introduction material. Students tended to be passive and faced difficulties in distinguishing the use of regular and irregular verbs. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and engagement through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, covering the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The results showed a significant increase in learning outcomes, where the average score of students in cycle I was 78.75, increasing to 80.42 in cycle II. In addition to cognitive improvement, there was a change in student behavior, becoming more collaborative and confident in conducting group presentations. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the PBL model is effective in improving the quality of English learning and encouraging active student participation in the classroom.
