Abstract

This paper focuses on identifying hazards and developing risk control strategies within Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) activities located at BBPVP Serang. This study evaluates various operational hazard variables and determines Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) risk levels through assessments of likelihood and severity. Involving four OHS experts as purposively selected respondents, the data were processed using a combination of the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) technique to outline work stages and the HIRARC method to classify risks. Field findings indicate prominent health threats, particularly exposure to welding fumes due to suboptimal maintenance of smoke filtration machines, as well as environmental noise reaching 83 dBA. Furthermore, ergonomic risks such as muscular injuries were also identified during the manual material handling process. The research concludes that although the majority of risks are at a medium level, improvements to the air filtration system, standardization of machine maintenance procedures, and discipline in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are crucial to protecting trainees.
